Kweku Baako Insults Ayariga, Akua Donkor, Nduom Etc

Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, has described Hassan Ayariga and Akua Donkor, Presidential aspirants for the All People’s Congress (APC) and the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) respectively as, “jokers”.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show, the Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, opined that some of this year’s presidential aspirants, notably the duo named above, were only in the contest to “fool about” and so commended the Electoral Commission (EC) for disqualifying them.

“There were too many jokers I nearly said fooling about. There was the need to cure that mischief as quickly as possible. And if you cure that mischief in accordance with law, I will clap for you. There were too many of them. Was Ayariga not a joker? Akua Donkor, is she not a joker? In fact, the jokers were many,” Peace FM quoted him as saying.

Mr. Baako, has always preached constitutional order, human rights and also recognized universal adult suffrage. His unkind words against the two individuals are, therefore surprising.

The Commission, has disqualified thirteen candidates (13) from contesting the Presidential slot, because they failed to meet the requirements for filing their nomination forms.

Akwasi Addae Odike; United Progressive Party (UPP), Hassan Ayariga; All People’s Congress (APC), Edward Mahama; People’s National Convention (PNC), Agyenim Boateng Kakraba and Kofi Apaloo; Independent People’s Party (IPP) were all disqualified.

Other disqualified candidates are, Ward Brew; Democratic People’s Party (DPP), Akua Donkor; Ghana Freedom Party(GFP), Henry Lartey; Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Richard Tetteh, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings; National Democratic Party (NDP), Paa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Kwame Asiedu Walker, and Kwabena Adjei.

Only four candidates: Nana Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ivor Greenstreet of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) and an independent candidate, Jacob Osei Yeboah, were given the green light.

According to him, the EC’s disqualification, was the best solution for the mischief that, Mr. Ayariga and Akua Donkor, had intended.

He, however, expressed surprise over the disqualification of Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom of the PPP and Edward Mahama of the PNC, because in his view, these candidates meant business and worked hard to be in the list.

“I was surprised to be frank. Nduom, I was surprised. Edward Mahama, I was surprised” but quickly added that he wasn’t surprised over the disqualification of Mrs. Rawlings of the NDP, “I’m indifferent”.

He advised them to resort to the court for redress.
