Kofi Boakye promoted to Commissioner of Police
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye has been promoted to the rank of a Commissioner of Police. A police statement, signed by DSP Freeman Tettey from the Police Public Affairs Directorate on Monday, said the promotion was done by President John Mahama who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces.
The promotion takes effect from June 1, 2016. “The IGP, John Kudalor expresses his heartiest congratulations to COP Mr. Nathan Kofi Boakye,” the statement said. Mr. Nathan Kofi Boakye is a lawyer by profession, and was promoted to the rank of DCOP in August 2012.
He was the Western Regional Police Commander for 10 months before his transfer to Kumasi. He had also headed the Greater Accra Regional Command as the Commander previously.
Before he took over the administration of the Western Region Police Command, he was the Director of Education at the Police Training School in Accra.
In all cases, he has excelled in his call to duty. In 2014 President Mahama had a cause to commend him as the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, for what he described as quality leadership.
