Kofi Boakye is hunting me because IGP backed me – NPP MP

DCOP Kofi Boakye is provoked and attacking me only because I had support from the Inspector General of Police recently in my campaign to stop the impunity of the Fulani herdsmen in Agogo and its surrounding areas,” the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akim North, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang has revealed.

The Police Commander is reported to have called and threatened to arrest the MP for inciting the youth of Agogo against Fulani herdsmen.

But the seeming threat received backlash from a section of the legislature who condemned the Ashanti regional Police Commander for declaring the lawmaker wanted.

However, opening up on the issue on Kasapa 102.FM in an interview with Fiifi Banson on why he would receive threats from DCOP Kofi Boakye after leading the youth in a demonstration to express their displeasure over the herdsmen attacks, the MP said he suspected he was falling out with Kofi Boakye because of his decision to get Policemen from Accra to help in the security issues with the nomads.

“He thinks I’m taking the shine away from him, by side stepping his authority and backed by the IGP brought men from Accra to undertake operations in the area.”

Hon. Baah Agyemang said what DCOP Kofi Boakye should have done was to act in response to the havoc that is being wreaked in the Agogo enclave.

He wondered why the police had still not acted decisively on the security issues by evicting the cattlemen from the area when the law enforcement officers are fully aware of the dire implications of the stay of the herdsmen on their lands.

Locals are frustrated as some 25 natives of Agogo and the surrounding areas have been killed by the nomads under bizarre conditions.

Women in particular say they are unable to go their farms unaccompanied for fear of their lives.
