Ken Attafuah In Secret Recruitments At NIA

The Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Prof. Ken Attafuah, has been caught in what appears to be a secret recruitment he is embarking on for the Authority on the blind side of many Ghanaians, who may be qualified for that opportunity.

The Herald, intercepted an urgent message sent round ,among some executives of the NIA in which the criminologist cum lawyer, is seeking the services of some Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Professionals, to take up jobs, as the organization readies itself for the issuance of national ID, popularly known as Ghana Card, nationwide.

But the recruitment opportunity, which is supposed to be made available to everyone through advertisement in mainstream media, was done on selected social media platforms, painting a picture of cronyism.

At a time that job is difficult to come by, the recruitment of the ICT specialists is being hidden from the public eye and made available to only Prof. Attafuah’s colleague Chief Executive Officers (CEO) who are supposed to inform potential recruits, who will automatically be friends, family members or loyalists of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

This paper gathered that, Prof. Attafuah, a former Deputy Commissioner at Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) got the information shared on CEO’s whatsApp platform, to draw the attentions of executives of the NIA on the available opportunity days ago.

A copy of the message, which this paper has seen, said the NIA, needs a total of 10 ICT professionals, especially those with Master’s Degree in Computer Science for a period of one year for the Mass Registration exercise ahead.

Applicants were required to be available for full-time engagement, ready for training by Monday October 9, 2017 and also must have the requisite capacity to train others in computer applications.

The information further said “Interested persons should send CVs to: macheamp@gmail.com, and copy me (profken.attafuah@gmail) by close of business tomorrow, Wednesday, 4 October 2017. Many thanks for your help”.

Deadline for submission of application was indicated as WednesdayOctober 4, 2017.
