John Mahama did his best as President – Prof. Alabi

A Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Joshua Alabi is of the view that John Dramani Mahama did his best for the country as President.

Professor Alabi who is aspiring to be the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) said despite the success chalked by the Mahama-led administration, the NDC as a party did not have a proper campaign message during the 2016 elections and that was one of the reasons for their defeat.

“For me, he did his best but we have to go to the people to tell us whether collectively we have done well. We did a lot of things and then when we went to tell them what we have done, we thought that based on that they will vote for us,” he explained.

Professor Alabi further stated that the needs of Ghanaians shifted prior to the 2016 general elections.

“The NPP filled the gap by telling the electorate that one village one dam, one district one factory,” he noted, indicating that the NPP gave the electorate a message of hope even though it has turned out to be lies.

According to him, he will give out practical messages when elected as the flagbearer of the NDC.

Prof Alabi was in 1997 to 2001 elected by the people of the Krowor Constituency in the Greater Accra region as their Member of Parliament. While in Parliament, Prof Alabi served as a member of the Business Committee of Parliament from 1997 to 2001 and a member of the Parliamentary select Committee on Food and Agriculture from 1997 to 2001.
