John Dumelo hits back at Sammy Awuku

Renowned actor, John Dumelo has responded to claims being made by National Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku.

The National Youth Organiser accused the actor of breaching regulations regarding political activities in Senior High Schools.

According to Mr Awuku, the actor is engaging in talk-shows in selected senior high schools under the guise of a peace ambassador but in reality he is campaigning for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). He therefore urged the Ghana Education Service (GES) to stop him.

In reaction to this, John Dumelo said even though it is true that he is going to various senior high schools; he is not doing politics but rather preaching peace.

Speaking in an interview on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma with host Yaa Konama, John Dumelo said:

“we write to the school authorities and most of the schools approve it…I go with the aim of preaching peace. I advise them not to do politics on the campuses and I try as much as possible not to talk about politics…”

The only time he talks about politics according to him is when he goes to public places like the markets.

“If you talk of outside the school; I will agree that I do politics especially when I go to the market but with the schools I don’t do politics. I don’t go with the green book neither do I wear party paraphernalia; I just don’t talk about politics…” he added.
