J.B Danquah’s ‘killer’ denied access to girlfriend

Daniel Asiedu, the alleged murderer of the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, Joseph Boakye-Danquah-Adu told the judge in court that he is being denied to speak or see anyone.

He told the judge, he requested to see his pregnant girlfriend for conjugation but was denied. The judge instantaneously replied that is not allowed and can only be made to see her.

He further told the Accra Magistrate Court that he is still being ill-treated in spite of an order directing the police to ensure his human rights are protected.

According to him, he is still put in a solitary confinement and as a result is not able to engage with other inmates. Asiedu further stated that he is always made to rush whenever he is using the washroom.

The prosecution denied the allegations but indicated they will continue to investigate the matter and ensure Daniel Asiedu’s human rights are protected.

His lawyer, Augustine Obour in court today (Monday) once again pleaded with the Presiding Judge Stephen Owusu to allow his client to be transferred to the Nsawam Prisons, and also undergo a psychiatric test, but both pleas were turned down.

The court remanded the suspect to BNI custody urging the police to ensure his rights are protected. The case has been adjourned to April 5, 2016.
