Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Victor Bampoe has attributed successes achieved in the health sector to continuous investment in the sector by the government.
According to Dr. Victor Bampoe, Ghana has over the past years maintain its performance in child immunisation, post natal services and has also exceeded the United Nations recommendation on Doctor to Nurses population ratio.
The Deputy Minister of Health was speaking at the opening ceremony of this year’s Health Summit in Accra on Monday.
The five-day event, which is on-going, will look at reviewing the health performance and also make fresh commitment for the years ahead.
The event which coincides with the World Malaria Day is dubbed, “Working Together towards Universal Health Coverage, Consolidating the Gains of the Health related MDGS.”http://ghanapoliticsonline.com
Dr. Victor Bampoe also lamented about some challenges facing the health sector naming lack of resource as key among them.
USAID Mission Director, Andrew Karas, for his part said the government needs to take a holistic approach of financing the health sector.
The opening ceremony of the summit was chaired by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah.
In a related development, an aide memoir would be issued at the end of the five-day event.
