Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for an intensive investigation against presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo over an alleged threats he sent to radio presenter, Adakabre Frimpong Manso.

The chief scribe of the umbrella family said emphatically in an interview with Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio that, Nana Addo is an abusive person who threatens media personalities who do not say things in his favour. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah further revealed that, the radio presenter [Adakabre] was forced to apologise to Nana Addo because he was allegedly threatened again by the former justice minister.

Adakabre Frimpong Manso had alleged in a radio interview granted Accra based Joy FM that, Nana Addo threatened and abused him. “…Nana Addo abused and threatened me, I was so sad and scared but I kept quiet because I didn’t want to be the fall guy through which something happens and they would say it is because of Adakabre so I kept quiet.

“I was afraid because…I was told to the face that you will be killed at a specific date, I have all the evidence, I can substantiate them…I have everything on my phone, I have kept the phones and I would be willing to show it to anybody who wants to see them.”

His comment came after the NPP issued a statement to boycott all political programmes on Okay and Neat FM because they felt the two stations and their political show hosts were deliberately using their platforms to denigrate Nana Addo. Adakabre later apologised after the NPP dared him to provide evidence over his claim. But Johnson Asiedu Nketiah believes Adakabre was forced to apologise because, his father came out to confirm what his son had earlier accused Nana Addo of. According to him, Nana Addo’s behaviour and character confirms the accusation against him. http://ghanapoliticsonline.com/

He called on the security agencies to arrest and investigate Nana Addo because the accusation against him is a serious crime which cannot be ignored. He also called on the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) to take up the matter since their member’s life is under threat.

”The GJA should have taken this matter by now if indeed they fight for the interest of members as they claim. It borders on the practice of journalism and freedom of speech and i think it will be prudent for the GJA to show concern over the alleged threat.

” Johnson Asiedu Nketiah said, Adakabre should also be questioned and probed to establish his allegation against Nana Akufo Addo. When asked if he was not only denigrating the flagbearer of the largest opposition party, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah posited that, Nana Addo’s posture and actions depicts his abusive nature hence he cannot escape blame over the current tension and infighting within the elephant family. He added, Adakabre for the fear of losing his job apologised to Nana Addo.

”Both Adakabre, his father and Nana Addo should be probed because his allegation was confirmed by his [Adakabre’s father] who alleged that, Nana indeed abused and threatened his son. Adakabree should be questioned on why he failed to report the alleged threat until the NPP boycotted his programme.” Johnson Asiedu Nketiah added,

the NPP as a party is fond of threatening journalists anytime they speak the truth and it goes against their interest. He concluded that, the NPP in 2001 repel the criminal libel law to enable them threaten people who do not do things in their interest. ”The NPP should come out and tell us if they believe in the Criminal Libel Law which they repelled, because i don’t understand why they keep on threatening Ghanaian journalists with death when they have repelled the Criminal Libel Law.”
