Vice President Amissah-Arthur Inspects Ongoing Cenpower project

Ghana’s thermal energy mix mill soon be boosted with an additional 350 megawatts when the 900 million dollar Cenpower project at Kpone near Tema when completed in September, next year.

Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur visited the project site and unveiled a tunnel boring machine critical for the project.

He was happy the company is giving meaning to the government’s local content policy by employing and using a lot of Ghanaian expertise.

In January last year, Vice President Amissah-Arthur cut the sod for the commencement of the Cenpower Project.

The tunnel boring machine from Germany is being used to construct a 1.2 km pipeline for sea water intake to be used as a cooling system for the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine power plant.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur was optimistic that the cutting edge technology being used for the building of the power plant will enable the Ghanaian workers to use the same technology in other areas.

The chairman of Cenpower Generation Company Ltd, Sam Nana Brew Butler, said the company will not depend on the government for the supply of fuel as it has set aside 250 million dollars for fuel.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com
