In the US, they assumed every Nigerian had Ebola – Dr Kpaduwa

In a reaction, Kpaduwa, who recalled that he and his wife did their best to ensure Igonoh had a safe delivery, said the story of Ebola is one that has captivated the whole world, even as he recognised that Nigeria’s triumph over the outbreak was significant indeed.

“I want to thank you and commend First Consultant Medical Centre for handling the Ebola case. It was as if God designed it for Mr. Sawyer to come to First Consultants. Only God knows what would have happened if Sawyer had gone to another institution that did not have the capability of handling the terrible infection. Nigerian would have been in a mess.

“On behalf of my wife and family, I want to say big congratulations to all Nigerians and also thank and congratulate the staff of the First Consultant Medical Centre for the excellent work, because without your effort, I do not think Ebola infection would have been contained in the way and manner that it was. First Consultant Medical Centre has gone down in history and made Nigeria proud.”

Further, Kpaduwa said: “Nobody in the rest of the world knew what to do with West Africa. People were avoiding everyone from this part of the country. I was here in Nigeria at that time with my wife, but when she went back to the US, the hospital that we were using there gave her a hard time. “They didn’t want her to resume work. They said it had to be assumed that everyone from Nigeria at that time was suspected to have contracted Ebola. It was a difficult time, but we give glory to God that we persevered and overcame in the end.”
