I’m not contesting John Mahama in NDC primaries –Professor Kwesi Botchwey

Former Finance Minister under the Jerry John Rawlings administration, Professor Kwesi Botchwey, has urged the general public to ignore all falsehood being published by Pro NPP media houses that he will be contesting former president John Dramani Mahama .

Days ago, a section of the media published that the the former Finance Minister has joined the flagbearership contest of the main opposition National Democratic Congress and set to contest ex-president Mahama in the party’s upcoming primaries.

In a separate chat with Ghanapoliticsonline.com a close relative of Professor Kwesi Botchwey , he said that it is too early to be talking about Professor Kwesi Botchwey’s intention to contest for the presidential candidate slot .

“For now I can assure you he doesn’t have any intention to contest Former president John Mahama”, the source added.

Background.
Professor Kwesi Botchwey, served under ex-president John Mahama as the Chairman of the National Development Commission.

Prof Botchwey also chaired the committee that investigated the factors that led to the NDC’s defeat in the 2016 polls.

At the time, there were agitations that he was using his position to market himself, a charge he denied.

Meanwhile Mr Mahama is expected to announce his bid to lead the NDC into the 2020 election at the party’s last Unity Walk in the Volta Region.

He has however given a strong hint that he will run for president.

He posed on Facebook last week that he will not disappoint those asking him run for president again.
