I will be surprised if Akufo Addo wins – Nyaho Tamakloe -Founding member of NPP

A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe says he will be surprised if the party’s presidential nominee, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is able to win the 2016 Presidential elections.

Dr Tamakloe believes the absence of a united front in the party will most likely cost Akufo-Addo victory in the polls.

He therefore advised, the NPP’s Presidential nominee to recall suspended members of the party including the Chairman, Paul Afoko, General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong as well as himself back into the party.

“I am not saying they are bound to lose but I am saying, I don’t believe the party is well focused with this great election,” Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said on Tuesday in a radio interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme.

“First and foremost, all those so-called suspended from the party particularly the Chairman and the General Secretary should be recalled including Sammy Crabbe and then we start from a clean slate.”

“I believe strongly that if they are recalled, these are serious people and they will not sit down unconcerned. They will contribute their quota as is expected of them”.

The former Ghana ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro said, he will have second thoughts about Ghanaian politics if the NPP is able to win the Presidential elections without their suspended members.

Dr Tamakloe said he was hopeful that if an approach was made to the suspended trio, particularly Chairman Afoko he will withdraw his suit from the law courts. He also insisted that Chairman Afoko was not leaking sensitive information to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Dr Tamakloe is serving a suspension term for flouting internal mechanisms in resolving party disagreements.
