‘I was frightened when I saw my babies’ – Mother of Siamese twins

Mother of Siamese twins born at Ejura Government Hospital in the Ashanti region is yet to recover from her shock.

28-year-old Asmawu Abdallah said nothing at that moment frightened her more than caring for her fragile twins.

Doctors at the hospital had to perform a caesarian section to remove the children conjoined at the abdomen after the mother had undergone a similar surgery two years ago.

The C-section started at about 6:30 pm and ended at 7pm Saturday night.

The medical superintendent who carried out the C-section, Dr Mensah Manye, said the conjoined twins are very rare, noting that the case was the first of its kind to be recorded at the facility.

Sharing her experience on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Monday, Asmawu Abdallah said she was recovering well enough to care for her children.

According to her, the twins are a gift from God thus she’s got to gather the needed courage to feed them.

“I have started feeding them because they are my children and gift from God” she added.

Asmawu Abdallah was however shocked that all her scans at the same hospital did not reveal the condition of her baby until they were born.

The distraught mother is however, leaning on her faith, hoping that her daughters will survive.
