The Majority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament took over a four year old District, which had no hospital, no post office, no financial institution, no tarred road, no potable water, no electricity, no telephone service, no market complex but a new Day Senior High School at Kaleo and Dafiama.
A credible research conducted in 1992 placed the District last among the then about 67 Districts in the country but through the Visionary, Prolific and Responsible Leadership of Hon Alban Bagbin, the Constituency and District has progressed satisfactorily.
All the developmental projects in the constituency was either built by Hon Bagbin or through his lobbying.
The Health Concerns of the People of this Constituency has tremendously improved. The District now have Two Hospitals, a Polyclinic (Almost Completed), Eight Health Centers and Twenty Eight Functional CHPS Compounds.
These investments made has led to a quantum leap in the health status of the people.
No Guinea Worm, No Cholera, No Bilharzia, No hair lies, No Chicken pox, No small pox and Maternal deaths have reduced to the barest minimum.
Hon Alban Bagbin has also invested heavily in the Education of his constituents, be it provision of classroom blocks, scholarships, grants to students to further their Education and provision of teaching and learning materials.
Only 14 Communities had primary and Junior High Schools when Jon Bagbin became the Member of Parliament, with no Kindergarten or Day Nursery.
Today, Kindergartens or Day Nurseries are uncountable and almost all Villages have the full complement of basic education.
The St. Augustine’s Senior High School at Charikpong, Takpo Senior High School, Queen of Peace Senior High School, Kaleo Senior High School and St. Basilides Technical School were all established with the support of Hon Bagbin. He also Lobbied for the Community Day Senior High School under Construction at Narong.
Hon Alban Bagbin invested heavily in the building of the McCoy College of Education even before he became the Member of Parliament. His Lobbying has seen to the award of a contract for the construction of a Midwifery School at the premises of the Nadowli District Hospital which will commence in earnest hence the need to be given another mandate to be able to execute this project and may others.
Hon Alban Bagbin has provided about 500 boreholes to his constituents and the District can now boost of four small water systems at Nadowli, Kaleo, Nator and Sombo.
Apart from few communities including Kuuri, Eeli-Kuntali, he has ensured that the rest of the communities are connected or being connected to the National Grid, helping to boost Economic Activities in the Constituency.
Investments in the lives of his people happens to be his top priority, having donated and assisted the installation of a Grinding Mill in almost all villages in the original Nadowli North constituency, supporting a large number of the women with Micro Credits, Sponsored Uncountable number of students from Senior High School to Universities, even to the Masters Level with Mr Benard Mornah as a beneficiary.
Teachers and Nurses in the constituency have been highly motivated with 100 gas cylinders and stoves to each group.
All Motorable roads in the constituency were done through Hon Alban Sumani Bagbin.
The Achievements of this Legend and Legal Luminary is Immeasurable and Enormous, having picked the Constituency from a deprived state to where it is now with the support of the good people of the constituency for consistently reposing confidence in him.
As Ghana celebrates Hon Alban Bagbin for being the first Member of Parliament to have been selected a Minority Leader for a Term of Eight years and Majority Leader for a term of almost Six years, I trust that the dependable people of Nadowli – Kaleo Constituency will continue to give him their support and vote for him come December 7th 2016.
