Ho Airport To Take First Flight In November 2016; Way Earlier Than Initial Plans

The new regional airport for the Volta Region might be operating sooner than the Q1 2017 as indicated earlier.

According to Ghana’s Minister of Transport, Fifi Kwetey, the Ho Airport will be ready for an inaugural flight in November 2016. Mr. Kwetey expects that the runway of the airport be completed before then.

“The first part of the Ho Airport we are doing, is the runway. We expect the runway to be ready by November in order for us to make the first inaugural flight.”

In September 2015, President John Dramani Mahama cut the sod for the commencement on construction work on the Ho Airport.

The new regional airport is a part of the current government’s plan of contructing an airport in every region.

Despite the new date of completion, Fiifi Kwetey was quick to remind that not all work on the airport could be completed before November.

“Subsequent to that, the terminal will have to be finished. But the terminal won’t be ready before November. But we expect the runway to be ready by then,” the Transport Minister added.
