Hassan Ayariga to address media on 2018 budget Wednesday

The leadership of All People’s Congress (APC) is scheduled to hold a press conference on Wednesday on the 2018 budget presented to Parliament by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta last week.

The encounter is expected to take place at the Party’s headquarters at Haatso-Westland in Accra and would focus on critical issues in the budget that affect living conditions of ordinary Ghanaians.

All media houses have been invited to cover the programme planned to commerce at 10 am prompt, APC Acting National Organiser Kwofie Benibengor said on Monday.

The meeting would afford journalists the rare opportunity to ask questions about APC’s position on the 2018 budget as delivered by the Finance Minister.

Sources close to the party headquarters say bigwigs of the party including APC Leader and Founder Dr Hassan Ayariga are likely to address reporters and state the party’s position on the budget.

This is the second budget statement and economic policy since President Akufo-Addo led administration assumed office on January 7, 2017, seeking to transform the economy but critics say the budget gives no hope to Ghanaians as economic conditions worsen while insecurity continue to grip citizens.

Parliament is expected to start debating the budget statement on Tuesday, November 21, after the document was presented to the lawmakers last Wednesday.
