The General overseer of International Central Gospel Church Rev Dr. Mensah Otabil, has described the economic hardship in the country under President Akufo-Addo as unprecedented in the history of the fourth republic.
Delivering a sermon last Sunday, the man of God said, the shambolic state of the nation’s economy under the current administration, represents the worst in the nation’s contemporary history. He said that workers were the worst hit. Very few employers are paying salaries as when due and salaries paid them cannot take them through the month the man of God revealed. He said Ghanaians are becoming tired and weary of the harsh economic condition.
Rev Dr. Otabil told the congregation that he lived under the Rawlings, Kufour, Mills and Mahama administrations and can emphatically say the economic hardship Ghanaians are going through under the Akufo-Addo administration is unprecedented.
Ghanaians will recall that the world bank and other multinational institutions recently revealed in their annual reports that investor confidence in the Ghanaian economy has shrunk. Some renowned economists also warned about the consequences of foisting a populist economic regime with subtle bans and clampdowns on free trade and freedom of Ghanaians to freely open and operate domiciliary accounts. Some sectors have been affected by the economic slowdown occasioned by bad economic policies of the administration. Banks and businesses are collapsing affecting businesses in the country.
