Gov’t To Build Social Coastal Projects For Fishing Communities

President John Dramani Mahama, has announced that the building of land beaches for the fishing communities will soon start as funding is being sought.

He said funding will come from the World Bank and the China Development Bank.

The President stated this when he joined the Chiefs and people of Anloga in the Volta region to celebrate the second fish festival.

The festival was instituted by government last year to boost the fishing sector for which the region is noted for.

President Mahama, also mentioned other projects to be constructed in the coastal areas alongside the landing beaches.

They include Social Coastal projects which will have modern washrooms, boreholes, reservoirs built and a Health Protection project, which will engage about two thousand youth in cleaning and planting trees particularly palm trees along the coast.

The first phase of this project will start in November this year.
