Government is set to register additional 11,000 households in the Volta Region unto the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme.
The exercise has begun in the Hohoe municipality where 30 communities are being roll unto the government flagship social intervention programme.
LEAP is a Social Protection intervention, introduced by the Government of Ghana to support the vulnerable and extremely poor households to meet their basic needs for survival.
The programme works such that a single beneficiary every two months receives GH¢ 64.00, two eligible member household gets GH¢ 76, while three eligible member household receives GH¢88 and four or more eligible member household gets GH¢106 for free.
Addressing chiefs and people of Gbi Traditional Council in the Volta Region Wednesday, the Minister for Gender Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur said the programme is being expanded to cover more extremely poor and vulnerable people across the country.
