Government has released 77 acres of land to the Muslim community in Tema to build an ultra-modern school complex in the area.
The government’s action brings to an end, the many years of struggle by the Muslims community with the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) and Trassaco over the land.
After several years of struggle over the ownership of the land and intervention of the National Chief Imam, Dr. Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, government, through the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing, finally decided to give the land to the Muslims for us for the educational complex.
The release of the land was contained in a letter signed on behalf of the ministry by the Chief Director,Alhaji Zibim Yakubu.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com
The Muslims have been occupying the area for the past 35 years, with a school, staff housing and dormitory structures.
In 2006 “the previous management of TDC offered 361 acres of land to Trassaco as compensation for a service that it rendered to TDC.
This offer incidentally led to a portion of adjacent land belonging to the Muslims Community, wrongfully being including in the offer for Trasacco.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com
In 2010, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) reviewed and downsized the land given to Trassaco by TDC, from 361 acres to 270 acres, after discovering that the appropriate size was not given to Trassaco.
