Frimpong Addai, the CEO of the Ghana Revenue Authority has revealed that GHS147 million cash was burnt as a result of the fire outbreak at the GRA office on Sunday, though there are no traces of ashes from the burnt money.
According to the CEO, the money was meant to be taken to the bank on Friday but accounting-related issues shifted it to Monday.
“The bankers were coming for them this Monday and it’s very unfortunate that this has befallen the nation just a day to Monday”, he said.
He added that a committee has been set up to investigate the cause of the fire. He assured the public that all records were intact after the fire outbreak in exception of some items and money that got burnt.
