Ghanaians criticize Akufo-Addo for organizing a funeral ceremony for George Floyd

Many Ghanaians on Social Media have criticized president Nana Addo-Dankwah Akufo-Addo for organizing a funeral ceremony for George Floyd, a black American who was murdered by a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota in America.

The ceremony which was solely organized by the office of the president in charge of diaspora affairs to many critics is not their main problem but rather the fact that similar incidents have happened in Ghana with the president ignoring it.

A Ghanaian PhD student based in China, Baba Musah had this to say:

Mourning George Floyd in Ghana 🇬🇭 is okay. But it exposes the crass hypocrisy of President Akufo Addo’s govt. A gentleman was shot dead by a military man during the 3 weeks lockdown in parts of Ghana. We never saw the govt showing such sympathy to the family of the deceased. Ahmed Hussein Suale was killed in front of his home by assailants, over one year on govt is dragging its feet on the matter, not has police arrested his killers? In 2017, Captain 👨‍✈️ Mahama was killed by some residents of Denkyira Obuasi while he was on duty, what has become of the case now. #Hypocrisy

A plus, a musician who also added his voice to the criticism posted on social media as follows
