The World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed that Ghana is not as prepared towards managing the Coronavirus. A report filed by Kasapa indicates that there is inadequate funding to implement the various preparedness activities planned by the Government of Ghana.
Ghana has been classified among Priority 1 countries in the African region to be at risk based on flights and passenger volumes, according the WHO report.
“Ghana assessed its capacities to respond to any suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 and identified gaps to plan for preparedness, response and control activities,” the World Health Organisation (WHO) has reported. The report further revealed that government has committed 2.5 million Ghana Cedis to support preparedness, but additional funding is required to meet the funding gap for prioritised activities Meanwhile, Nigeria’s health ministry has said it has confirmed a novel coronavirus case in Lagos state. This is the third confirmed case in Africa, after Egypt and Algeria, and first in Sub-Saharan Africa.
“The case which was confirmed on 27/02/2020 is the first case to be reported in Nigeria since the beginning of the outbreak in China in January 2020,” the health ministry said in a post on Twitter.
