GHANA INTEGRITY INITIATIVE SHOULD BE ABOVE THIS…..

I don’t think Ghana Integrity Initiative should only retract their report, but must be impressed upon to render an apology to the office of the President and the NDC party. We need such organisations to operate alongside the main establishment to keep governments on their toes and also to educate the citizenery but veering off this civic responsibility into the arena of partisan politics is unacceptable.I don’t think the organisation is abreast with happenings in the Fisheries industry.I would have supported partially, their mispresentation if government had ignored the sector only to play mischief in this election season.Motives, determination and genuine intents, are factors organisations like GII should consider when doing their assessment business.

Apart from the achievements i enumerated in my earlier post, the NDC’s Manifesto also touches on certain relevant policies to develop the sector. In their Manifesto chapter 44,the NDC under President has promised well

*Continue to ensure that Ghana’s fishery resources are protected from encroachment by foreign vessels

*Complete the construction of landing sites, cold stores and fishing harbours

*Establish alternative livelihood programme in the fishing communities

*Rehabilitate the Albert Bosomtwe Sam Fishing Harbour in Sekondi to serve the fishing communities in and around the Sekondi/Takoradi metropolis. The President during his recent campaign tour took the opportunity to inspect ongoing work at the harbour and was commended highly by Nana Nketia for the initiative

*Complete the construction of landing sites at Tepa Abotoase,Anloga,Tongor Dzemesi,Mumford,Teshie,James Town,Keta,Kpando Torkor and Axim under a West Africa Regional Fisheries Project.

*Complete the Fisheries College at Anomabo to provide the human resource requirements for the transformation and modernization of the fishing industry.

*Ensure the adequate and timely supply of premix fuel and monitor the proper use of any surpluses for community development initiatives

*Improve the timely supply of outboard motors to fishermen at the landing beaches

*Scale up the distribution of GPS based fish finders to increase fish catch

These and the completed projects captured in my earlier post, are issues Ghana Integrity Initiative ought to have consider before accepting to execute the agenda assigned them.President Mahama’s commitment to improve the fishing industry has remained genuinely strong resulting in the massive improvement we witnessing,

The President recently commissioned completed cold stores in some fishing communities, commissioned ferries placed on the lake to support fishing business in the communities etc what about that.He recently graced National Teachers Award Ceremony where he distributed certain items to our hardworking teachers what about that.
