Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda banned for assaulting ball boy

Enyimba International goalie Fatau Dauda has been hit with a match ban over a touchline incident that occurred in game against Katsina United over the weekend.

Enyimba suffered a 2-1 defeat away in a league game that was almost marred by violent conduct from the home fans.

Dauda has been charged with “aggression towards a ball boy”.

The 32-year-old is alleged to have punched a ball boy during the game in an attempt to retrieve the ball from him to ensure the smooth continuation of play. The Nigerian League Management Company (LMC) said Dauda behaved in a manner capable of inciting violence at the game.

“Enyimba’s goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda was suspended for one match and fined N50, 000 for aggression towards a ball boy during their match against Katsina United. Dauda was charged for breaches of Rules C11 and C1 which included assault on a ball boy and acts capable of inciting others to commit violence during their Matchday 18 fixture against Katsina United,” the LMC stated.

LMC also placed Katsina United on “a sanction of three points deduction for probationary period lasting the rest of the season.”

Katsina United, whose fans attacked Enyimba players as well as vandalizing their bus, were fined N2.5 million with half a million compensation to Enyimba as well as cost to repair the damaged bus which is yet to be determined.

Fatau and Katsina United have till Thursday to appeal the decisions by the league body.
