FORMER PRESIDENT MAHAMA DESERVES AN APOLOGY FROM EVERYONE WHO ACCUSED HIM WRONGLY- GITMO (2)

The former President Mr Mahama deserves an unqualified apology from all who falsely accused him of taking money from the US government to keep the Gitmo 2 in Ghana. He was accused falsely by his political opponents including the sitting President, civil organizations, and some men and women in God’s ministry. His accusers including the sitting President who is an astute lawyer, could not provide supporting evidence for the public to determine whether their accusation was true or false. The former President usual of him, explained why he took that decision and did that with decorum. He was aware that sometimes natural responses can have serious consequences especially if the accusers have their own ulterior motives. It was an intentional lying on the part of his accusers to serve their political interest. Their allies in the media supported them to perpetuate this wicked accusations through their faulty interviewing techniques and suggestive questioning. We were in an election year and to divert the public’s attention from ugly happenings in the npp, this weird technique was adopted.

Surprisingly, some church organisations and men of God also joined this wicked crusade and conveniently, misinterpreted the the word “Compassion” in the religious context. This was what the KNIGHT, LADIES OF MARSHALL OF CATHOLIC CHURCH, said reacting to the decision to accept the wrongly accused Gitmo 2👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

“We associate ourselves with issues raised by a number of Ghanaians and civil society groups,
including the Ghana Catholic Bishops
Conference and the Christian Council of Ghana that the issue relating to the two is totally different from previous asylum requests granted to other refugees.”

The men of God also spoke from the individual positions and one man whose outburst and attacks on the former President still rings in my mind is Most Rev Osei Bonsu and this was what he said👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇said👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

“If we have reasons to believe that these people are
dangerous, we are under no obligation to take them in Ghana. They can go to their own country and the people there can show compassion to them, but we do not have any obligation,”

This was how some of our Christian organisations and pastors treated former President Mahama for showing compassion to the Gitmo 2 whose detention had earlier been condemned by the Catholic church ( Vatican). But before I proceed, let me quote this Biblical message to strengthen the spirit of the former President now that he stands vindicated

“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account” Matthew 5:11.

He was did what the Bible and the Quran instruct us to do ( Compassion) in was vehemently attacked by his adversaries.

Now let come to the politicians. Politics, and crave for power shouldn’t bury the values bequeathed to us by our forebears and teachings we receive in our churches and mosques. This was what Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo the current President of the republic, said about the Gitmo 2 issue 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

“It was wrong for government to a accept the Gitmo 2”
He said, the entire process used by the Mahama administration to accept the suspected terrorisaid👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇
wrong for government to accept them. He used the word “SUSPECTED TERRORISTS” when he knew very well that the accusations levelled against the two and others had been found to be false and condemned by many organisations and renowned persons including the Pope. He had earlier been briefed by the US Ambassador on the issue yet, went on with his false accusations. His position was corroborated by the current Speaker of our Parliament Prof. Mike Ocquaye also a man of God and this was what he said👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

“Without an agreement those persons could
have been
here…there was an offer and there
was an acceptance if the Attorney-General advised the president on the contrary he should apologise to
Ghanaians and resign.”

Before I continue with the political distortions, let me remind readers of the current President and his administration’s current position on Gitmo two few months after their attacks. This was what the Attorney General said in court when her team appeared at the supreme court to answer questions on the Gitmo 2 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

“It was state practice to conduct some diplomatic deals through “executive agreements” this was the current AG arguing the same line they earlier condemned and even went on to cite examples in South Africa and the US.

We cannot discuss this painful ordeal without mentioning what some civil organizations did. This was what our noble lawyer Mr Ace Ankomah also said in support of those who were pushing Mr Mahama into the “execution room” 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

“I am wearing red (all shades allowed) today because I am sick and tired of being sick and tired at incompetence and ineptitude. #?
RedFriday? is easy. Wear something red, take picture, post it on social media, and say why you
are in red.”

The Npp as an organization did not spare the former President. They accused the former President of taking $50m bribe from the US government to keep the Gitmo 2

The party met, and decided to link it to Islam. The ulterior motive was to incite the Muslim community against the Mahama-led administration. Kennedy Agyepong, usual of him, exposed their wicked plan when he hastily called on the chief Imam to condemn the act.

I will end here. Those outright lies and skewed half truths are before them now. They must apologise to the innocent man so we move forward as a people envisioning a common goal and controlled by a common destiny. He was not treated fairly at all considering what his opponents said about him and his policies and what we witnessing today.
