Former cocobod boss Mr. Isaac Osei to takeover as TOR CEO

The man credited with changing and boosting the operations of the Ghana Cocoa Board Mr Isaac Osei, the thebftonline.com have gathered will be the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the revamped Tema Oil Refinery (TOR).

Mr Isaac Osei who lost his bid to be re-elected by his party the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to represent the people of Subin constituency in Kumasi in parliament, according to some industry watchers has the exact experience needed to help TOR become the number one refinery in the sub-region.

Information available to the thebftonline.com is that Mr Isaac Osei has been having meetings with the outgoing acting CEO Mr Kwame Awuah Darko who has been the boss of TOR since June 2015.

Mr Osei is said to have considerable years’ experience in both the public and private sectors and is a Professional Consultant, having worked on a number of projects for the World Bank, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the UK Department for International Development (DFID), among others.

He served as Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Cocoa Board and was credit with helping the board to achieve its first ever 1 million metric tonnes of production in Ghana.

He is a former Ghana High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

He also worked at the Ministry of Trade and Industry as a Commercial Officer and a Senior Commercial Officer at the Tourist Development Co. Ltd.

Mr Osei also was at a point in time, the Managing Director of Intravenous Infusions Ltd and served as Non-Executive Chairman of Intravenous Infusions Limited and has been its Director since December 16, 1998.

He has served on several boards including Cocoa Processing Company and a Director of Ghana Cocoa Board.

Hon. Osei served as a Director of Aluworks Ltd. (alternate name, Aluworks Ghana Ltd.) from May 2, 2006, to November 30, 2008.

The incoming boss of TOR if confirmed, will have the huge shoes of Kwame Awuah Darko to fill as many witnessed tremendous change at the refinery in just the one and half year of him at the helm of affairs.

Under the leadership of Mr Kwame Awuah Darko, TOR was revamped and was able to refine 7 million barrels of crude oil in 2016 and will from Friday, January 6, 2017, will refine the first production of 1 million barrels of crude oil from the TIEN fields.

Cuurently the refinery according to Mr Awauh Darko was currently in a position to refine crude oil from the Ghanaian oil fields after some expansion and repair works was done and is expected to scale up the refinery of crude to between 16 to 18 million barrels of crude oil in 2017.

Meanwhile, a former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Mr John Attafuah according to thebftonline.com sources is likely to be made to reassume the position he once held after the swearing in of President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo.

The Professor Mills government upon the assumption of office on April 17, 2009, asked Mr Attafuah to proceed on his accumulated leave after which Mr Alex Mould who previously worked with the Standard Chartered Bank as Executive Director to take the position which became vacant.

Mr Attafuah worked at the NPA for four years, from 2005 to April 2009. He will take over from Moses Asaga.
