The Delivery Unit, under the Office of the President, headed by Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, has boosted the chances of John Dramani Mahama, by showcasing his major achievements; thus making a statement why he and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), should be retained at the December 7, 2016 Presidential Election.
The president, recently completed his Eastern Regional tour, but had to put on hold his other campaign activities, because he had to inaugurate some key projects initiated by his government.
Among them were, the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, the SSNIT funded Trust Sports Emporium, a $110million Gold Coast Refinery Ghana Limited at the Airport, which is the largest gold refinery in the sub region.
The Delivery Unit is complementing President Mahama’s work by making the various projects easily accessible by the citizenry, some of whom have mischievously claimed that the projects are not real, but artist’s impression or computer generated images meant to hoodwink people for votes.
Just like government’s Green Book, the Delivery Unit, using a website; www. pdu.gov.gh, has splashed the numerous infrastructural projects commissioned by President Mahama on the internet for the viewing pleasure of Ghanaians both home and abroad.
The projects cover the provision of water, railway lines, schools, markets, housing and others.
The website also highlights government’s anti-corruption fight, providing information on the GYEEDA scandal, the National Service Scheme (NSS) rot
exposed by the president, Central Medical Store fire outbreak at Tema, Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), and Judgment Debts
Commission.
It also highlights facts and figures on the economy, agriculture, transport, communication, social protection, youth and jobs, sports, health, trade and industry among others.
But leading the massive infrastructural projects, are the recently inaugurated 74million Euros Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, the yet-to-be commissioned US$217million 617-bed University of Ghana Medical School project, has also been captured by the website.
The others are the 5000-unit Affordable Housing project at Saglemi which is expected to bring relieve to some government workers, the Kong Water Expansion Project, which produces some 20 million gallons of water per day to communities in Adenta, Madina, Kwabenya, North and East Legon, and its environs.
There is also the on-going US$298million Kumasi Kajetia Central Market, the largest in West Africa, awarded to Brazilian contractors, Messrs Contracta Engenharia Limited. Phase-one of this project involves the re-construction of the Kejetia Terminal and building of 10,000 stores for the market women.
The Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) reconstruction of Sekondi-Takoradi via Kojokrom suburban rail network at the cost of about US$165 million, has also been captured.
The project consists of the development of 5.Km single lane from Kojokrom to Sekondi, 10.Km from Kojokrom to Takoradi.
It also comes with ultra-modern terminals at Kojokrom, Sekondi and Takoradi, four halt stations to receive passengers, one on Kojokrom – Sekondi
line and three on Kojokrom -Takoradi Line.
The Ho University of Health and Allied Sciences, is also not left out, Atuabu Natural Gas Processing Plant in the Western Region, the New Arrival
Hall-Kotoka International Airport (KIA), the Greater Accra Business Processing Centre, Kotoka International Airport Cargo Centre.
Others are the FPSO Prof. Evans Atta Mills, the 400-bed Greater Accra Regional Hospital formerly the Ridge Hospital, the 15, 000 Capacity Multi-Purpose Cape Coast Sports Stadium, and the 216 Community Day Senior High Schools, being built nationwide.
