Fire guts railway coaches, Samsung office in Lagos

Pandemonium broke out simultaneously in different parts of Lagos State yesterday, after fire gutted two coaches of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC; Samsung Showroom and Akwill Fibre Company, in Ebute Metta, Ikeja and Iju axis respectively.

Property worth several millions was destroyed in the fire disasters.

At Ebute-Metta, Vanguard gathered that the two coaches were gutted at about 1:39 pm, though none of the NRC officials could ascertain the cause of the fire.

It was learned that when officials of Lagos State Fire Service from the Sari-Iganmu Fire Station arrived at the scene, they met a raging fire and quickly fought to prevent it from spreading to other coaches.

Confirming the report, the Director of the state Fire Service, Mr. Rasak Fadipe, lamented that the officials of the NRC shielded vital information from the fire service officials.
