family of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama has appealed to Ghanaian social media users to stop sharing gory images and videos of the soldier.

Captain Mahama was the victim of mob justice by a group of residents in a town in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region. He was lynched to death and his body burned by residents who claim he was mistaken for a suspected armed robber.

His murder has shocked the entire country with social media awash with sorrow and outrage about the way and manner in which he was killed.
Aside the outpouring of love and support for his family, some social media users have been sharing graphic photos and videos showing Captain Mahama’s last moments.

This has prompted the family of the slain soldier to appeal to social media users to cease sharing these graphic images at this difficult time in their lives. His uncle, the inventor and Dean of the Engineering Faculty Ashesi Univeristy, Fred McBagonluri posted on Facebook that even the soldier’s mother was yet to be informed about the death of his son.

“I have seen horrific pictures of Capt Adam on social media. They are very disturbing. I am appealing to those who may come into possession to not distribute any further. Capt Adam’s mom has not yet received the news of this senseless murder. Please be sensitive to our plight as we come to terms with this tragedy. Thanks!”
