Even If We Appoint Angels As Sports Ministers They Will Fail, Unless… – Afriyie Ankrah

Former Youth and Sports Minister, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has debunked claims that all Sports ministers are inept in office over the past years.

According to him, every single person who has been appointed Sports Minister has worked to at least improve the sector despite its bad name as a ‘Mafia’ ministry.

“Since NPP’s era, all sports minister’s track record is overwhelming,” he said – admitting that – “But we [Sports Ministers] are not perfect.”

He made this comment on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ after calls by many to ‘fire’ current Sports Minister, Dr Mustpha Armed.

Countless Ghanaians believe the Minister has disgraced the government by his incompetent handling of the issue concerning bonuses owed the Black Queens which the President had to arbitrate.

Elvis who was ‘sacked’ as a Sport Minister after Ghana’s shambolic 2014 World Cup participation questioned that – “Why is it that, there is always a problem at the sports ministry?”

He told host Kwasi Aboagye that – “That is what we must find out and solve. People claim there’s some mafia at the ministry.”

“I am writing an article to break down all the happenings in the sports ministry for everyone to understand. There is no evil spirit in the sports ministry. Some fundamental measure are missing in the ministry. We are all to be blamed including the media,” he added.

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah further noted that – “Even if we appoint an Angel to head the sports ministry without solving the problems there, the Angel will fail.”
