Eva Lokko Goes Home Today

A Former Director General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, (GBC), Mrs. Eva Naa Merley Lokko will be buried today at Osu, following a burial service at the forecourt of the State House, today, Friday November, 18 2016.

Mrs. Eva Lokko died on October 6, 2016, after a short illness.

Mrs Lokko was an engineer and politician. She was Vice-Presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party.

She partnered the flagbearer of the PPP, Paa Kwesi Nduom in the 2012 Presidential and parliamentary elections.

She was the first female to be appointed the Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.

Mrs Lokko worked in over forty countries across the world, and was one time regional programme coordinator of the United Nations Development Program’s initiative for internet development in Africa.

She served as chairperson of the UN Federation of International Civil Servants Association and the United Nations Staff Council.

She also served as member of the UNDP News Advisory Board.

She became Director General of the GBC in 2002.
