Ede-Oballa community confers chieftaincy title on Abba

ENUGU—NATIVES of Ede-Oballa community in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State recently conferred a chieftaincy title on their son and immediate past Chairman of the Enugu State Chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Vitta Abba, for his contributions to the smooth transition that led to the emergence of a governor of Enugu North senatorial zone extraction after 22 years.

Abba, who was conferred with the Chieftaincy title of Onwa(Light) of Nsukka Zone, by the Enugu North Council of Traditional Rulers in appreciation of his outstanding contributions to the state, thanked his people, the governor and other guests for their solidarity and support, assuring them that he will continue on the path of selfless service to humanity.

In an address presented by Chief Sylvanus Asogwa on behalf of the Ede-Oballa and Edenu Ede-Oballa Town Unions, the people of the community said that they honoured Chief Abba in recognition of his meritorious service and salient contributions to humanity, his community, the state and Nigeria at large, emphasising that Abba rendered selfless service and brought great fortunes to PDP.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, assured Nigerians that the present economic hardship in the country would eventually turn to a blessing through God’s grace.

Ugwuanyi, who commended Chief Abba for his selfless service to PDP and the state at large, noted with regret that the present leaders in the country were facing a lot of challenges due to the negative development in the oil sector, stressing that “before now the story was excess crude oil, but today it is bailout fund.”

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to step up development in the three senatorial districts of the state in spite of the harsh economic situation in the country.

Ugwanyi then called on the people of the state to continue to offer special prayers for his administration and the country, saying that what the nation was passing through would eventually be a thing of the past.

He noted that the honour done to Abba was for all the people of Nsukka zone, who appreciate his successful and peaceful tenure.
