ECG will not be privatised- Minister of Energy,Boakye Agyarko

The Minister of Energy, Emmanuel Boakye Agyarko has reiterated that the Electricity Company of Ghana, ECG will not be privatised.

Rather under the Private Sector Participation, PSP in ECG; the concessionaire will be required to have a 51 percent local ownership before it will be allowed to manage and operate the assets owned by government in ECG.

Speaking at the first bidder’s conference on ECG- PSP concession in Accra, Mr. Agyarko said even though over the years there have been investments in the power sector, there is the need to ensure the concessionaire is operating well to ensure reliable power supply in the country.
