EC Submits List Of ‘NHIS Registered Voters’ To Supreme Court

Information gathered from the Supreme Court Registry indicates that, the Electoral Commission (EC) has submitted the list of persons who registered with NHIS cards.

The EC submitted the documents contained in a sack at about 2pm today (June 29) in compliance with the Supreme Court order.

Last Thursday, the Supreme Court ordered the Commission to submit the full list and also modalities it has set in place to comply with an order to clean the current voters register by today.

The EC managed to swerve enthusiastic reporters who had thronged the Court premises to witness the submission of those documents.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com/

Christian Owusu Parry, Director of Administration of the EC was earlier spotted at the Court premises. It however remains unclear which official carried out the exercise. But a man strongly believed to have submitted the documents on behalf of the Commission was later seen leaving the Court on a motor bike in a bid to outsmart media personnel.

Meanwhile the Supreme Court will tomorrow (June 30) hear the application filed by former Youth Organiser of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Abu Ramadan, seeking clarification and further directions on an earlier judgement on his suit challenging the credibility of the voters register.
