Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia wins “Political Personality of the Year” award at GMAA 2015

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been adjudged “Political Personality of the Year” 2015 at the maiden edition of Ghana Muslim Achievers Awards.

Dr. Mahmud beat his competitors; Hon. Haruna Iddrisu — member of the Ghana Parliament for Tamale South, Hon. Mahama Ayariga — Member of the Ghana Parliament for Bawku Central, and Hon. KT Hammond to walk home with the prestigious plague on Friday, January 29, 2016.

Delivering his acceptance speech, Dr. Bawumia said “I stand for change…I stand for the youth. I thank the organisers for this and I dedicate this award to my wife.”

The main aim of the awards is to recognize and reward people from Zongos who are contributing to national development.

The awards night which was graced by the national Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu and other dignitaries from the zongo communities across the country.

The night also saw performances from MTN Hitmaker finalist, Leety, Bullhaus Entertainment’s Rudebwoy Ranking, Gariba, Gifted, Cissey, Konch Tanko, Cissey and Ishmail as well as poetry performance.
