The attention of the office of the 2016 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been drawn to certain statements made by the President of the Republic of Ghana in his exclusive interview with TV3, yesterday morning.
The President is reported to have said that Nana Akufo-Addo lied with respect to figures pertaining to the total debt of Ghana. The President said ” The total debt of Ghana as I stand today from Independence is $24 billion. How can this government have borrowed $37 billion; does it make mathematical sense to you? And yet this person goes repeating it over and over again for what purpose, you don’t know. We must tell the people the truth. Well , we wish to state it on record that Nana Akufo-Addo didn’t just woke up to churn out these figures. Indeed , it was the Vice Presidential Candidate Dr Mahamadu Bawumia who presented these economic figures to our Presidential Candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, hence we deem it as improper, when some media reports and the President create the impression that Nana Akufo Addo propagated lies. Much as we aknowledge the correction of this blunder, we wish to reiterate that the Ghana Statistical service department must not relent in constant review of their website with up to date data and information.
