Don’t pick strange items from the floor – IGP

The Inspector General of Police John Kudalor is advising Ghanaians to desist from Picking strange materials, such as ladies handbags from the floor since they could be explosive.

He is also urging citizens to be more attentive to security in their communities to augment anti-terrorism efforts of the police. He said information supply on suspicious characters in communities is key in the plan of the Police to fight the scourge.

The caution comes on the back of the recent terror attacks on some West African countries. So far, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast, both neighbours of Ghana, have been attacked by terrorists.

In an address read on his behalf at the commission of a new police station at Nkwatia in the Eastern region, the IGP said the security agencies will need the support of Ghanaians in order to prevent terrorist attacks on the nation.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com

“I urge each one of us to be security conscious and report suspicious characters we see around to the security agencies for prompt action. We also hope to educate our children on public safety. If you see ladies purse; very beautiful like a handbag that is dropped on the road, don’t pick it, inform the Police.

“In other countries going through the scourge of terrorism, if they see even money on the ground, they don’t pick it because some of these things are triggers,” the speech read by the Director General of Operations of the Police service, COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno noted.
