Why didn’t you come along with Paul Afoko and Agyepong? Angry NPP Youths Ask Akufo-Addo

A large number of angry NPP Youth groups from Amenfi Central, Amenfi East, Prestea and some places in the Western Region who met with the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Akufo-Addo yesterday, questioned him about the whereabouts of the party’s National Chairman Paul Afoko, General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong and the Vice Chairman Sammy Crabbe as they didn’t see any of them on the campaign tour. The teaming youth and supporters of the NPP indicated that, they voted the trio in Tamale for a purpose and that they urgently demand their reinstated as soon as possible for them to continue with their mandated responsibilities as National party executives.

Speaking to our western regional correspondent, the group leader who identified himself as one Joseph Armah Asiedu said that “as you can see from the faces of my compatriots , we are not pleased with the answer from Nana Akufo-Addo to our question on the whereabouts of  our party’s National Chairman, General Secretary and Second Vice Chairman. Can you imagine Nana Akufo-Addo told us they have been suspended indefinitely? I mean how is it possible that an officer with a definite term of office be suspended indefinitely albeit illegally? We think Nana Akufo-Addo and his friends who conspired to rob this party of fairness and truth acted in a bad faith and out of hatred for the Northener National Chairman Paul Afoko. Look at our party’s constitution  (demonstrating the party’s constitution to the reporter) , Article 10 is very clear on the process required to suspend a party executive (not a member) and this should not go beyond one month. These three executives who have been sacked  wrongfully by Nana Akufo-Addo, were elected in Tamale for a purpose and in the wisdom of the constitution, if the party and not some individuals, want to suspend them, then it should not go beyond one month because their absence will create a very disturbing ripling effect to the party. Let’s be honest, this Akufo-Addo inspired Suspension is the worst thing that has ever happened to the party and the reasons predicated for this gross impudence by Akufo-Addo are so bizzare and incongruous.”

Asiedu continued “For instance, the constitution of the party requires that,representatives on the National Council be elected. Hitherto the regime of Chairman Paul Afoko,  representatives to the National Council was done through appointment where surrogates of Akufo-Addo dominated it via means of nepotism. Chairman Paul Afoko insisted that the letter of the constitution be invoked and accordingly authorised that an elections be undertaken to elect representatives on National Council as required by the constitution. We were shocked to the marrow when we learnt that Akufo-Addo’s cousin, Nana Fredua petitioned against Chairman Paul Afoko for been obedient to the law, with respect to this provision, Can you imagine? Incredible.”

A constituency Secretary who pleaded to remain anonymous averred “Let me tell you something, long before Chairman Paul Afoko came into office, We have had constituency bank account and after several years, it has always remain empty until the incorruptible Chairman Paul Afoko worked out for all constituencies to receive Ghc 25,000 each. Notwithstanding that, he sent a huge Ghc 10,000 each to all the 275 constituencies. And because we elected Chairman Paul Afoko to resource we those at the grassroots and he was doing as such, Akufo-Addo colluded with the National Treasure Abankwa Yeboah to frustrate the process in which Chairman Afoko was sending all constituencies Ghc 10,000 each. And Akufo-Addo  succeeded in diverting over Ghc 6 million of our party’s money into a secret location which was later known as a dormant account with Ecobank ,Trust Towers branch. We have all the reports done by the Ohene Ntow committee and how Nana Akufo-Addo , Freddy Blay and their partners criminally shared the party’s over Ghc 6 million. Isn’t it sad that Akufo-Addo gave us a sorry Ghc 1,000 but sacked Chairman Afoko who gave us a huge Ghc 10,000? Kwabena Agyepong was here as we worked together towards the Amenfi-West By-election, last year. What happened to him , when Akufo-Addo called him to come back to Accra? Didn’t Akufo-Addo and his allies persecute and use broom to sweep him out from office ?”

“We are convinced beyond reasonable doubt that, Akufo-Addo sacked our Chairman Paul Afoko because he feared Chairman Afoko will exposed him and that Chairman Afoko was a threat to Akufo-Addo’s inordinate desire to take control over the party for a very long time instead of winning the Presidency . It is the party we are building and not mortals. The absence of Chairman Paul Afoko has left the party battling with untold apathy, intolerance, lawlessness, no sense of direction, deep seated animosity and hooliganism. We demand the immediate reinstatement of all sacked National Executives of the party and all other party executives. The Illegal suspension has done worst than good to the party. We want to know from Akufo-Addo and his fanatics , apart from they getting access to the party’s money, what good has the suspension which they orchestrated , brought to the party? Asiedu questioned

Meanwhile,  the National Chairman Paul Afoko and the Second Vice Chairman Sammy Crabbe are in the courts seeking to save the party’s constitution from the hands of Akufo-Addo and his loyalist who have been described by certain quarters of the party as “Intolerant Militant Wing”>
