Agas, yesterday, while delivering a lecture for participants of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Senior Course 38, Jaji, who were on a study tour, said the state government was shifting its focus from oil in order to diversify its economic base.

He said, “Our best hope for survival as a nation lies in the development of the non-oil sectors. It is on account of this that the immediate past administration conceptualized the vision of Delta Beyond Oil principally to shift our focus as a people to the need to diversify the state’s economic base.

“In furtherance of that focus, the current administration under the leadership of Governor Okowa, envisioned prosperity for all Deltans through the SMART agenda which focuses on job and wealth creation through agriculture and skill acquisition.”

In his remark, the leader of the delegation, Rear Admiral Sylvanus Abbah, commended the effort of the Delta State Government in engaging youths of the state meaningfully through its various skill acquisition programmes.
