Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two security officers working in the house of the Member of Parliament for Okere, Dan Botwe, over a robbery incident that occurred at his residence in the early hours of Friday.
According to police in the Community 18 District Police Command, the personnel were picked up following inconsistencies in their account.
The minority chief whip was robbed at gunpoint at his Tema residence. Mr. Botwe, who is also a former general secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) was reportedly held hostage for about 45 minutes by the robbers.
Laptops, mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of money was stolen by the robbers.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com
The NPP campaign strategist for the November election has since the incident not commented on the matter.
The attack comes on the back of the murder of former Abuakwa North MP, Joseph Boakye Danquah, by a 21- year old robber who attacked him in his house early this year.
