The Member of Parliament(MP) for Okere Constituency in the Eastern Region, Dan Botwe is not dead but rather has been discharged from the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) where he had isolated for COVID-19.
The Minister in Charge of Regional Reorganisation and Development in a statement on June 24, 2020, said he was admitted at the University of Ghana hospital after he felt unwell.
Mr. Botwe in the statement said he had tested for COVID-19 and was awaiting the results which he claimed he will make it known to the public.
However, nothing was heard of his results and his condition until there were speculations of his passing Saturday July 4.
But a statement released on his behalf by the District Chief Executive, DCE of Okere, Daniel Kenneth said the Member of Parliament for Okere, Dan Botwe has been discharged from the hospital and is currently with his family.
The statement said the Minister was well but needed the prayers of Ghanaians in these trying times the country is currently faced with.
The statement allayed the fears of Ghanaians stating categorically that the MP is alive.
“I wish to inform the general public that Hon Daniel Botwe is fine by God’s Grace and has been discharged today Saturday, 4th July 2020 around 1 pm. I wish to implore all concerned persons not to be alarmed and that he’s home with his family. Let us all continue to offer prayers of good health and long life for him. We are also very grateful for all loved ones and genuine persons for their prayers and show of concern.”
