Congo 1 – 5 Ghana

This really came as a shocker for Congo who managed a draw in Ghana last Friday but reduced the deficit in the 43rd minute through a corner kick which was headed in by Illoy Ayyet.

Congo at this point felt they were back into the game only for Partey to get his second for the day and Ghana’s third with a near post finish.

Ghana went into the break with a 3-1 advantage. The second half began in similar fashion as the Black Stars pressed high and Thomas Partey got his first ever hat trick for Ghana in the 69th minute.

Thomas Partey was instrumental for Ghana

Congo gave the ball away cheaply and the Atletico Madrid midfielder pounced on it and fired a bullet pass the Congolese goalkeeper to make it 4-1 to Ghana.

Boakye Yiadom scored his second of the day to put Ghana 5-1 ahead in the 85th minute to complete a five-star performance from the Black Stars after a lacklustre display last Friday.

Ghana are still 5th on the table with 5 points, one behind second placed Egypt and two behind leaders Uganda. The pair will clash this evening at 6:00 pm in Alexandria.
