Co-exist In Peace And Harmony-President Mahama Urges Northern Chiefs

President John Dramani Mahama has appealed to the chiefs and people of the three regions of the north to direct their energies at fighting poverty, which is a major developmental issue. He said conflicts only worsen the poverty situation among them.

President Mahama made the point when he granted audience to Konkomba chiefs led by the Paramount Chief of Saboba, Cheek Binalibemi Kanbonja at the Flagstaff House in Accra.

He urged the chiefs and people of Konkomba to co-exist in peace and harmony.

President Mahama lauded the Konkombas for living in peace with other ethnic groups wherever they find themselves.

He therefore, stressed the need for all citizens to continue to value peace as a prerequisite for development.

The Paramount Chief of Saboba Check Binalibemi Kanbonja in a message read for him acknowledged the numerous development projects initiated by government in the traditional area.

He said the chiefs and people of Saboba will work collectively towards peace before, during and after the election.

The MP for Saboba, Joseph Nikpe Bukari, on behalf of Konkomba MPs pledged to work diligently to enable President Mahama to retain power.

About 110 Konkomba chiefs from other regions attended the meeting.

The meeting afforded the chiefs the opportunity to thank President Mahama for attending the 38th Annual Easter Convention of the Konkomba Youth Association held in Saboba last year.

The forum was also used to discuss the problems confronting the people and to work towards co-existence among different ethnic groups in the country.
