Chief warns of another ‘Denkyira-Obuasi’ over Ibrahim Mahama’s attack at bauxite concession

The traditional ruler of Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashante Region, has condemn the District Chief Executive of the area for his role in mobilizing youth of the town to seize some mining equipment belonging to Engineers and Planners.

According to Nana Amanpene Twum Boating II, the conduct of the DCE, Mr Williams Darko could trigger the infamous Denkyira-Obuasi experience which lead to the lynching of an army officer.

Speaking on Nhyira FM in Kumasi, the traditional leader accused the DCE, of creating tension between the youth and officials of the mining company, which has links with Ibrahim Mahama. Nana Boateng Twum explained that, he became alarmed when he heard the DCE mobilizing the youth via their information Center to block Engineers and planners from entering the bauxite concession.

He insisted that, the DCE’s role in inciting the youth against the mining firm, Exton Cubic Group Limited is unnecessary. “I don’t want what happened at Denkyira Obuasi to befall my people,” the chief stressed. He however expressed excitement over the company’s takeover of the bauxite concession, adding that it will help open up development in the area. He is optimistic the move will create employment for the youth and also generate revenue for the district and the nation.
