Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Mines and Energy, Amadu Sorogho says the Minister of Power and officials of PURC will Friday appear before the House to clarify issues relating to overbilling by the ECG.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr Sorogho said the appearance of the officials was originally scheduled for Thursday but had to be changed for today.

Meanwhile, members of the Public Accounts Committee Thursday grilled officials of the Electricity Company of Ghana, ECG over their system losses and the challenges with the acquisition of power by new customers.

The Company was cited by the Auditor-General for some infractions in the 2013 and 2014 audited reports.

The Managing Director of the ECG, Robert Dwamena who could not appear before the Committee because of ill health was represented by the Director of Operations, Tetteh Okai.

He explained what constitutes technical and commercial losses and spoke about measures that have been implemented to reduce them.

Mr Okai was also questioned by the Ranking Member on the Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Dey Abubakari, over the acquisition of new metres and connection of power into new buildings.

The MP for Ablekuma Central, Theophilus Tetteh Chai asked the ECG Director of Operations, Mr Okai, whether it is appropriate to mount metres outside houses on electric poles.
