Chairman Afoko Did Not Hold Any Meeting In Minority Leader’s Office

Press Release
The office of the elected national chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul A. Afoko, has learnt with shock a deliberate attempt by some persons within the party to create the wrong impression that there was a meeting in parliament house involving him and others including the flagbearer at the minority leader’s office.

Additionally, those persons have added a twist to their false story by posting some pictures of Mr. Afoko, Nana Akufo-Addo, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dominic Nitiwul and the Hon. Musore.

We wish to draw the attention of the general public to the following:-

1) Mr. Afoko did not have any meeting with the above-mentioned personalities at the office of Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the minority leader before, during and after President Mahama’s State of the Nation Address last Thursday.

2) The last time any such gathering took place at the minority leader’s office was moments before a similar State of the Nation’s address was given, which is over a year ago.

3) Therefore, the pictures in circulation creating the false impression that some peace and/or unity talks have taken place is only an attempt to misrepresent issues happening in the party to the public.

4) The Hon. Musore who is in the picture resigned his position as MP for Talensi and became the chief of Tongo or Tongo Rana. His resignation as MP triggered the recently-held Talensi Bye-election.

If unity is desired for us to win power then it must be worked at genuinely and not through propaganda and falsehood.

Please, disregard any such information doing the rounds in the media.

Thank you.

Nana Yaw Osei,
Spokesperson, National Chairman, NPP.
