We cannot afford TV adverts on GH One -Charter House

Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Charter House, organizers of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, George Quaye has said that the company cannot afford television adverts like it did in the past. Some entertainment analysts have indicated that the buzz for this year’s event is far lower as compared to all their previous awards.

Speaking to Agyemang Prempeh on GH Entertainment on Rainbow Radio, as to whether the sale of GH One Television had not affected the organization of the awards, George Quaye described the question as erroneous because the event is on course and had not lost its buzz as some may claim.

Charter House who formerly operated GH One Television channel used the station to advertise for past events but the situation is different today after it sold the station to EIB Networks, operators of Kasapa, Starr and Live FM. George Quaye told the host that, the sale of the station was a very good business move and has not affected the event in anyway.

The truth is, we cannot afford to run adverts on GH One TV like we did in the past, George Quaye said. He described the previous adverts they run as costly and ‘sickening’ for the organizers. According to him, the measuring indicators for them this year is higher than previous years because people are participating more to the event this year despite the perception of critics that, the buzz of the event is low all because the company is not advertising as it used to do in the past.

He told the host that, the recent nominee jams organised in the Volta Region was massive as compared to last year although they never advertise as in the past. George Quaye asked the host and all critics to come to the Conference Centre May 7, 2016 and when they should find empty seats at the conference centre, then he [George Quaye] will accept that the buzz for the event was down.
