Campaigning for Nana Addo not my priority now – Nii Noi

Defeated New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Klottey Korle and now Independent Candidate, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, has said his main priority is to canvass votes to champion his cause and not to campaign for the flagbearer of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Nii Noi declared his intention to go independent at a press conference in Accra Wednesday, claiming that his decision is backed by supporters, hardliners and the sympathizers of the party in the constituency.

“After losing the election to Philip Addison, I had calls from party faithful who want me to represent them in parliament. I’ve lived with the people for decades and they see me as a brother.

“They know that I am the only one who can drum home their problems. There is a serious employment issue in the constituency. So, I will focus on canvassing for votes for myself rather than campaigning Nana Akufo Addo,” the former Constituency Chairman said.

Nii Noi, who was speaking on Atinka AM Drive Thursday, lambasted national executives of the party for taking sides in the tussle between him and his contender, Lawyer Philip Addison, accusing them of lacking managerial skills.

“Because, I’m not a lawyer and I don’t have friends and cronies in the party, they gave Mr. Addison an undue advantage over me. They could have managed the impasse but they turned a blind eye to it,” embattled Nii Noi told his host.

He debunked the claim that he has parted ways with the NPP to join the NDC.
